The Second Annual Hola Awards on September 25 will showcase some of the most admirable Hispanic leaders in Sussex County, who, during part of the evening, will be serenaded by Billboard artist Prince Royce.
In memory of Irene and Randall Larrimore, the Larrimore Family donated a Recognition and Endowment Plaque. The top of the plaque recognizes donors to the old Seaford District Library on Hall Street, built during the 15 years Irene Larrimore served as President and also Treasurer of the Seaford Public Library Commission. The bottom of the plaque recognizes those that have helped establish an endowment to provide for future library needs.
Sussex Tech welcomed new head coach Bernie Nowakowski but expects at least the same results on the football field this season.
The National Hurricane Center has issued a hurricane watch for all
Sussex County, as Hurricane Earl continues its journey toward the
mid-Atlantic region and promises to bring with it gusty winds, large
waves and beach erosion by late Thursday into Friday.
Coming off three consecutive Division I state championship game appearances, Sussex Central’s Golden Knights of the gridiron a season ago were eying more success. Things did not go as hoped though, and Central limped to a 6-4 record. This year, however, the pieces are there for another deep tourney run.
The Governor's Consortium on Hispanic Affairs has awarded $117,520 in grants to support six community-based programs that help Hispanic families learn the English language or include an educational focus on family literacy, health literacy and/or financial literacy.
