Candidate for Delaware Insurance Commissioner John Brady has announced he is resigning as town solicitor for Milton.

He announced his decision to the council last week but had been considering it for a while, according to town manager George Dickerson. Dickerson said the council will name a new town solicitor at its July 7 meeting. Brady also recently resigned from his town solicitor position in Dewey.

"I don't want comments made [during] my campaign to [interfere with] the Town of Milton," Brady said. He added that this will give him more time to focus on his campaign.

In Brady's 26 months with Milton, the town accomplished several things, including adopting a charter and selecting a wastewater treatment plant site and provider.

Brady, who has served as the Sussex County Recorder of Deeds since 2003 and was the Sussex County Register in Chancery from 2001-2003, is also stepping down as legislative attorney for the House of Representatives, where he served since 1996. He is an attorney with the firm Brady, Richardson, Beauregard & Chasanov, LLC in Georgetown.
