Possum Point Players has cast A Christmas Story, a comedy based on the popular movie of the same name.  It will be the Players’ holiday production for 2010. Tickets are now on sale for this play, which opens on Friday, Dec. 3.

Pat Erhardt of Seaford is in the director’s seat for this holiday laugh-riot. He has directed several shows with Possums, including Funny Money, Bedroom Farce and The Last Christmas Carol.  His Assistant Director is Titia Halfen of Milford, who recently co-directed A Love Affair at Possum Point Players.

Erhardt and Halfen have a cast for A Christmas Story that includes Diane Counts, Alex Ferree, Dax Donaway, Olivia Workman and Sydney Gross of Millsboro; Will Dorey, Colby Luzier and Wilbert Douglas of Laurel;   R .J. Encarnacion and Lydia Rimmer of Georgetown; Mike Helfrich of Frankford;  Michael Murnin and Judy Venturini of Lewes; Kyle Steele of Frankford; Logan Waide of Selbyville and D anny Keenan of Georgetown playing Ralphie.

The movie A Christmas Story had its debut in 1983, and has since become a beloved holiday tradition for many. The story of a little boy’s attempts to convince his parents – here played by Venturini and Helfrich – to get him a Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle for Christmas is full of hilarious family moments for all to enjoy.

“Our holiday show always brings in a lot of families,” said Possums’ Executive Administrator, Mary Cahill of Georgetown, “It’s a great way to get into the spirit of the season, and spend time with loved ones in a positive atmosphere.”

Possum Point Players is accepting reservations for all six performances. Performances begin at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays, December 5 and 12. Tickets are $20, $19 for seniors and students. Please call the Possum Ticketline at (302) 856-4560.

Directions to the theater can also be obtained at that same number. A Christmas Story is presented by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing. This program is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
