John M. Blakeley of Georgetown passed away on April 26, 2012 at P.R.M.C. in Salisbury, MD. He was 88.
He was the owner of the oldest operating garage established in 1920, Blakeley’s Garage in Georgetown.
He served in World War II, as a member of the 77th infantry, as an airplane mechanic.
He was past president of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, Member of the I.O.O.F. No. 3, lifetime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (past warden), member of the American Legion.
He was one of the last survivors of the Golden Knights undefeated football team of 1942.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marguerite, son, Michael M. Blakeley, daughters, Patricia B. Calhoun and Curtiss and Karen B. Baker and Allan, 3 granddaughters, Holly L. Baker, Heather B. Atkins and John, Lori B. Vieira and Dennis and 5 great grandsons.
Funeral services are private.
