Forney Jacob “Jake” Ricker of Georgetown, DE, passed away with family on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 88.
He was born in Mill Hall, PA, the son of the late Charles and Elsie (Hagen) Ricker.
He served in the Army Air Corp, in the European Theatre, received the Bronze Star and Silver Star and served under the command of Jimmy Stewart.
He was the owner of Ricker Office Machines in Georgetown for 22 years.
He attended Georgetown Presbyterian Church, and was a lifetime member and district governor of Georgetown Lions Club 22D, President and Tail Twister, a member of the American Legion Post #28 and the Milton Hershey Alumni in Hershey , PA. He was an umpire and coach for the Georgetown Little League.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Ricker, second wife, Donna Davidson and his daughter-in-law, Susan Ricker.
He is survived by his loving companion, Arvella “Buddy” Sirman, sons and daughter-in-law, Chuck Ricker and Bob and Teresa Ricker, all of Georgetown, daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Stanton Adkins of Millsboro, 7 grandchildren, Erin Ricker, Melissa Glaeser and husband Noah, Kyle Ricker and wife Erin, Jacob Ricker and wife Jennifer, Caleb Ricker, Ricker Adkins and Abigail Adkins, and 2 great grandchildren, Grace and Addison Ricker.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
