  • James A. Betts, 65, of Georgetown passed away on May 6, 2012 surrounded by his loving family and his dogs, at home in Hospice care.
Born on June 26, 1946 in Milford, he was the son of the late George Albert and Alice Mae Bullock Betts.
He had served as a Veteran in the U.S. Air Force, and retired after working as a Truck Driver, as well as many other jobs over the years.  He was a hard working man, generous to a fault, some would say, and loved music, coin collecting, model trains, drag racing and had worked as a mechanic on race cars.  He had a unique collection of piggy banks and collectibles.
He was a family man who cared about everyone, and was a friend of Bill W. for over 12 years.
He is survived by his companion of nine years, Judy Vennell and three children, Yvonne Lallier, and husband Mark, of Milton; Charles Betts, and wife Ann, of Milford; and David Strail, of Georgetown.  He also leaves behind a brother, Barry A. Betts, and his wife Sandy, of Milton and his six grand children, Mark Lallier, Jr.; Nicole Lallier; Sara Lallier; Courtney Betts; Taylor Lallier; and Savannah Kelley along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends across the region.  He also leaves his beloved canine friends who surrounded him and loved him, Snoopy; Lucy; Gigi; Roscoe; and Flash.
A funeral service and Celebration of His Life is planned for Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11 a.m., at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, Del, with a time for visitation and fellowship with the family beginning at 9 a.m.  Pastor David Kiser will officiate.
Interment follows, with Military Honors at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.  Flowers are welcomed, or in lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Season’s Hospice, 2200 Continental Dr., Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home. Electronic condolences to www.watsonfh.com.
