  • Maryland and Delaware will promote fresh watermelon in New England during August as part of a campaign by regional farmers.
    Mar-Del Watermelon Queen Terra Tatman will be on a three-day trip in New England this week. She will be giving out free watermelon slices to shoppers and sharing nutritional information and recipes.
    Her schedule is: Aug. 8, live interview on WEE! 93.7 FM during the Red Sox-Rangers game; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 9, Shaw’s Store, 53 Huntington Ave., Boston; 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 10, Whole Foods Market, 300 Legacy Place, Dedham; 2 to 6 p.m., Stop & Shop, 99 Charles St., Malden.
    The radio and print advertising campaign is supported by the Maryland and Delaware Departments of Agriculture.
