The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a dwelling fire that occurred in Rehoboth Beach Wednesday morning.
The fire occurred at approximately 8:09 a.m. on the unit block of Prospect Street in Rehoboth Beach. The fire marshal’s office determined that the fire originated in the utility storage room and was caused by a lightning strike.
The house was not occupied at the time and no injuries were reported, fire officials said. Damages have been estimated at $600,000.
The Rehoboth Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and was assisted by the Indian River, Lewes, Bethany Beach, Milton, Georgetown, Millville and Roxana fire departments.
