  • A job fair specifically for unemployed military veterans will be held at Milford High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
The event will feature nearly 40 employers from throughout the state and region, as well as a resume and interview preparation workshop hosted by Job Centers @ Delaware Libraries.
Employers schedule to attend the fair include private companies, such as Aflac, Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover Downs, Energizer Personal Care/Playtex, Hertrich Family of Automobile Dealerships, Mountaire Farms of Delmarva and Nanticoke Health; non-profit organizations, like Delaware Hospice, Goodwill DE, Habitat for Humanity and Peoples Place; as well as a host of government agencies, including the Delaware State Police, DelDOT, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, New Castle County Police Department, Pennsylvania Police Department and the Delaware State Office of Volunteerism.
Friday’s event in Milford will be the second veteran-focused job fair that Delaware’s Congressional delegation has sponsored this month. About 150 job seekers attended a similar event held in Middletown on Aug. 13.
“Veterans and their families made sacrifices in order to serve our country and that’s why it’s so important to honor their sacrifice when they return home by making sure they have the opportunity to transition their skills to civilian life,” said U.S. Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), a veteran of the U.S. Navy. “I hope veterans seeking employment take advantage of this job fair to meet employers who are looking for a dedicated, hard-working and skilled labor force.”
For more information, call Carper’s Dover office at (302) 674-3308 or visit www.carper.senate.gov.
