A 24-year-old Georgetown woman was cited for inattentive driving Wednesday after she pulled her car into the path of a motorcycle near Angola.
Erika C. Showell had stopped her 2006 Kia Optima at a stop sign on southbound Hollymount Road at about 4:24 p.m. and was attempting to turn left onto eastbound John J. Williams Highway when she failed to see a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading west on the highway, police said.
Showell pulled directly into the path of the motorcycle, operated by 50-year-old Steven F. Lushis of Federalsburg, who struck the passenger side of the Kia and was thrown onto the roadway by the impact.
Lushis was transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Police said it is not known whether he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Showell and her two passengers were not injured.
Traffic on John J. Williams Highway was impacted for more than an hour as police investigated and cleared the crash.
