A 17-year-old Dagsboro girl was killed in a single-car crash near Frankford on Sunday night.
Jacqueline M. Pavik was the passenger in a 2003 Honda Accord that struck a tree off of Omar Road, just west of West Road, at about 10:50 p.m., according to state police
Pavik, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car had been heading west on Omar Road when the driver, 17-year-old Ashlee J. Reed of Frankford, lost control for unknown reasons, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
The car then spun counter clockwise across the eastbound lanes of the road before leaving the southside of the roadway, where it struck a tree on the passenger side, he said.
Reed, who also was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Beebe Medical Center Lewes before being transferred to Christiana Hospital in New Castle County, where she was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Omar Road was closed for more than three hours Sunday night as police investigated the crash.
