  • A 20-year-old Laurel man was charged with attempted murder Tuesday in connection with the shooting of a Bridgeville man a day earlier.
Rihem Frisby was arrested about 6 p.m. Tuesday when he arrived for an appointment with his probation officer in Georgetown, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
It was not immediately clear Thursday how state police connected Frisby to the shooting or the details surrounding his probation, which stems from an unrelated case.
However, new details did emerge about the incident at the Hollybrook Apartments near Laurel that resulted in a 25-year-old Bridgeville man being shot in the back.
Fournier said the Bridgeville man had been sitting on the hood of his car when Frisby approached him while armed with a small handgun and demanded "the victim give him everything he had."
After the Bridgeville man complied, Frisby attempted to pistol whip him in the head, Fournier said.
The victim avoided the blow and attempted to run toward the 1700 building in the Hollybrook Apartments at which point Frisby shot him in the back, Fournier said.
The victim later collapsed in the apartment building.
Frisby managed to flee the area before officers from the Laurel Police Department arrived at 12:10 a.m. Monday.
As of Thursday, the victim was listed in stable condition at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, where he was remained since Monday morning.
In addition to attempted murder, Frisby is charged with robbery, two counts of possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearms by a person prohibited.
He is being heldt the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on a $255,000 cash bond.
