Gamson Milce, 28, was passenger in car
A Bridgeville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash northeast of Seaford early Wednesday morning, according to state police.
Gamson Milce, a 28-year-old passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Hastings Farm Road, just north of Old Furnace Road, about 2:20 a.m. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
The driver, 23-year-old Seaford resident James Serge, was listed in stable condition at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford as of Thursday morning. He also was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
According to Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier, the crash occurred as Serge was driving a 2004 Suzuki Verona southbound on Hastings Farm Road and encountered two deer standing in the roadway.
Serge swerved left to avoid the deer, causing the car to spin counter-clockwise before leaving the east side of the wet roadway.
The car then struck a decorative driveway pillar and a large brick abutment, ejecting Serge from the vehicle, Fournier said.
The car continued spinning as it continued down an embankment where it struck a large tree.
Fournier said it is not known whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Hastings Farm Road was closed for more than three hours as police investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
