After falling to Laurel High School, 35-25, just a week ago, the Sussex Tech High School football team looked to get its season back on track as it hosted Milford High School on Sept. 21 at Sussex Tech Stadium.
Not only did the Ravens get back to its winning ways, it made a big statement as it dominated Milford High School, 51-21, to open its Henlopen Conference North schedule with a victory.
Tech (2-1, 1-0) put the game out of reach early, establishing itself as the dominant team with a first quarter safety and rushing touchdowns from junior Willis Dickerson, two scores, and sophomore Kani Kane to take a commanding 23-0 lead into halftime.
Milford (2-1, 0-1) opened the second half with a strong scoring drive, but the Ravens immediately answered back and regained momentum on an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from senior wide receiver Aquilla Cartwright, again stretching the lead to 23 points.
Less than two minutes later, the Bucaneers answered back with another score, but that would be the closest the Ravens would allow them to get as their big play ability earned them two more rushing scores, both from Kane.
A late touchdown run from freshman Patrick Griffin would close the scoring for Tech after another Milford score.
The Ravens will look to keep rolling next week when they visit Cape Henlopen High School (2-1, 0-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28.
