  • A 48-year-old man was beaten and robbed by two men who forced their way into his Lincoln-area home earlier Monday morning, according to police.
The incident began when the victim reportedly heard someone knocking at the door of this home in the 17000 block of Staytonville Road, southwest of Lincoln, about 2:45 a.m.
The resident answered the door and was confronted by two men, who forced their way into the home before physically assaulting the man while demanding money and property, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Paul Shavack.
The home invaders then tied up the victim before fleeing on foot with undisclosed property taken from the home.
The victim was able to free himself and went to a neighbor's for assistance, Shavack said.
The man was later taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries he suffered during the assault.
The victim was not able to provide a description of his assailants, Shavack said.
Anyone with information about the home invasion robbery is asked to contact Delaware State Police at (302) 856-5850 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
