  • A 24-year-old, Dagsboro-area man was arrested Sept. 19 and charged in connection with multiple residential burglaries in Sussex County last month.
    William J. Tingle II was taken into custody at his home in the 32000 block of Townsends Road after detectives found him hiding in the attic, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack.
    Tingle's arrest was the culmination of a month-long investigation into the daytime burglaries of homes in Frankford, Dagsboro and Selbyville between Aug. 13 and Aug. 30, Shavack said.
    Tingle is accused of forcing his way into at least eight homes and stealing jewelry and firearms, including a handgun and a shotgun.
    He is charged with burglary, theft, theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy, criminal mischief and falsifying business records.
    As of Wednesday, Tingle was being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $9,200 secured bond.
    He is accused of burglarizing homes at the following dates and locations:
    Aug. 13 – 37000 block of Smithfield Acres in Selbyville
    Aug. 20 – 32000 block of Townsends Road in Dagsboro
    Aug. 22 – 34000 block of Evans Road in Frankford
    37000 block of Smithfield Acres in Selbyville
    Aug. 24 – 31000 block of Townsends Road in Dagsboro
    Aug. 27 – 32000 block of Townsends Road in Dagsboro
    36000 block of Old Mill Bridge Road in Selbyville
    Aug. 30 – 32000 block of Townsends Road in Dagsboro
