A man armed with a knife reportedly entered a Millsboro-area home late Saturday night and attempted to rob the residents, before fleeing empty handed.
A Delaware State Police spokesman said detectives are investigating the home invasion and attempted robbery that occurred in the 29000 block of Cordrey Road, east of Millsboro, about 11:11 p.m.
Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said a man carrying a knife entered the home through the front door and then knocked on the bedroom room door of a 25-year-old male resident and his 24-year-old wife.
When the male victim opened the door, the man pointed the knife and residents and demanded money.
The male victim attempted to grab the knife, but was pushed to the ground, he said.
At that point, the couple’s 25-year-old female roommate came to the bedroom to investigate the commotion and was pushed out of the way by the would-be robber as he fled the house empty handed.
None of the residents were injured, Fournier said.
The residents described the intruder only as black and about 5’3”.
Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the home invader is asked to call Delaware State Police at (302) 856-5850 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
