  • Sussex Technical High School will commemorate National Anti-Bullying Month by presenting the nationally-recognized Rachel’s Challenge program to students and parents/guardians on Tuesday.
Rachel’s Challenge is based on the life and writings of 17-year-old Rachel Joy Scott, who was the first victim of the Columbine High School shootings in 1999. Following her death, Scott’s father began speaking at schools and using his daughter’s writings and drawings to “illustrate the need for a kinder, more compassionate nation.”
The Rachel’s Challenge presentation is now used throughout the country and, to date, has reached more than 18 million people.
Students at Sussex Tech will hear the presentation’s anti-bullying message in assemblies scheduled during the school day, while another presentation will be made available to the public in the high school’s gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
