  • A 48-year-old Milford School District employee has been charged with theft after allegedly withholding money he received on behalf of the district.
Houston resident Frederic J. Snowden, a facilities and grounds supervisor for the school district, was arrested Friday and charged with theft of more than $1,500, according to Milford Police Department spokesman Detective Dwight Young.
From May to July, Snowden sold waste material from the Milford High School renovation project to various salvage yards, but failed to turn the proceeds in to the district, Young said.
Following his arrest, Snowden was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
Milford School District Superintendent Phyllis Kohel said Snowden was placed on administrative leave after district officials learned last week that he was the subject of a police investigation.
She said his employment status would be evaluated in light of the criminal charge filed Friday.
