  • Beebe Medical Center is one of the latest healthcare providers across the nation affected by the recall on many injectable products from the New England Compounding Center in Framingham, Mass.
Patients across the country began suffering from fungal meningitis after they received a contaminated steroid product from NECC. In all, at least 285 people in 16 states have become sick; 23 others have died.
Beebe Medical Center pulled NECC products from its shelves, even before the Centers for Disease Control advised the action. Beebe identified 143 patients who had received any NECC products since May 21, 2012 and began contacting them and their physicians; so far 60 percent of those patients have been notified.
The Delaware Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) reported Oct. 19, that no illnesses in Delaware have been linked to NECC products. For more information, visit dhss.delaware.gov/dhss/pressreleases
