  • Members of the board of directors for Georgetown Aid presented a $1,000 check Monday to the CHEER Center’s Meals on Wheels program.
“We decided to help Meals on Wheels since they help everyone in our area and they are having their funding cut by the government,” Georgetown Aid President Ramona Anderson said. “The opportunity to donate these funds to Meals on Wheels helps Georgetown Aid expand its reach in providing assistance to the less fortunate.”
Founded in 1978, Georgetown Aid provides food, shelter, clothing and utility assistance to residents of the 19947 zip code. The organization also operates the Robin Hood Thrift Shop at 201 Cedar St. in Georgetown.
About 600 volunteers with six CHEER activity centers in Sussex County deliver roughly 130,000 meals per year as a part of the Meals on Wheels program, CHEER officials said.
