American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro held a Veterans Day celebration on Sunday.
American Legion Auxiliary President Tina Washington read excerpts from recent speeches by the last four Commanders-in Chief, while Sons of the American Legion Commander Mike Cotton discusses the aftermath of service on veterans and their loved ones.
Capt. Josh Lawrence, who has served two tours in Afghanistan and is currently station at Fort Drum in New York, said he was thankful for organizations, like the VFW and American Legion, for supporting him and others with care packages, prayers and a welcome upon his return home.
Post Commander Jim Gallagher and Past Commander Jim Lafferty also spoke at the event, along with World War II veteran Mary Ann Albitz, Vietnam veteran Ed Mazoo and Greneda veteran Chuck Nimmerichter.
The program ended with Nancy Levingood singing “Taps” followed by the honor guard providing a 21-gun salute.
