A 16-year-old Millsboro teen was killed Wednesday in a single-car crash southwest of Georgetown.
Logan Taylor Roe, a junior at Sussex Technical High School, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Asbury Road, about a half mile west of Raccoon Ditch Road, southwest of Georgetown.
An 18-year-old female passenger from Georgetown was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
A Delaware State Police spokesman said the crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. when Roe lost control of his westbound 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix in a sharp curve.
The car left the north side of the roadway and continued west before striking a telephone pole on the front driver's side. The impact caused the car to spin counter clockwise before coming to rest in a densely wooded area, police said.
Both Roe and his passenger were wearing seatbelts police said.
A police investigation is ongoing.
Asbury Road was closed for about three hours as police investigated the crash and cleared the scene.
Roe was studying athletic health care/physical therapy at Sussex Tech.
School officials said counselors are at Sussex Tech today to assist grieving students.
