  • Members of Georgetown Aid donated $1,200 to Georgetown Presbyterian Church last month to help provide shower facilities at the church’s emergency shelter.
The church at 203 N. Bedford St. operates an emergency overflow shelter for homeless men or women when other church shelters in the area reach capacity during the winter months, according to Pastor Mike Williams.
Williams said the donation would provide a significant portion of the funding needed to add a shower facility for use by those guests.
Georgetown Aid, founded in 1978, helps provide shelter, clothing and utility assistance in Georgetown. The donation was collected through the sale of donated clothing and household items at the group’s Robin Hood Thrift Shop at 201 Cedar St. in Georgetown.
