Students at Sussex Central High School received awards in several categories at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire this fall.
The Take Two Drama Club won first place in the Shakespeare Competition for the second year in a row with their performance of “Shakespeare: Music and Madness.”
The school’s vocal music department took third place in the Choral Music competition, while student Melissa Shevitz won fourth place in the Instrumental Music competition by performing Shakespearean music on flute.
The school’s heraldry team, headed by student Mitch Holding, won third place for a large metal shield it created sporting the Sussex Central’s logo, name and motto.
The winners of the photojournalism, display advertising and creative writing competitions will be announced later this month.
Located in Manheim, Pa., the Faire is one of the largest Renaissance events in the region and attracts student competitors from schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
