  • Royal Farms’ President John Kemp will join town, county and state officials in cutting a ribbon to mark the recent opening of the new convenience store in Georgetown.
Starting at 5:30 a.m. 97.7 FM’s Petch and Paula Morning Show will broadcast from the new Royal Farms, while the Sussex Central High School Concert Band also will perform during the grand opening.
The new Royal Farms at 20579 Dupont Boulevard officially opened its doors at midnight on Nov.15. It is the Baltimore-based company’s 158th store, two dozen of which are in Delaware.
Emory Hill and Co. of New Castle served as the general contractor during the construction project, while Ratcliffe Architects of Stevenson, Md., designed the building according to the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system.
The building features building materials containing recycled content, low-flow toilets, waterless urinals, low volatile organic paints, energy-efficient LED light fixtures and energy efficient components within lighted beverage and food cases.
