A Delmar man accused of stabbing a man in the face at a liquor store in Laurel turned himself into to police on Friday.
Police said Manuel Vasquez, 24, gave himself up after seeing various news reports about the stabbing outside the Five Points Liquor Store at 511 N. Central Ave. on Thursday afternoon.
It was not immediately clear what led to the confrontation, but police said the 27-year-old victim had attempted to walk away before Vasquez repeatedly stabbed him in the face with a knife.
Vasquez ran away after the stabbing and police later found the victim on the ground near the rear of the store.
The victim was initially taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hosptial in Seaford before being transferred to Christiana Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
Vaquez is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute in Georgetown on a $45,000 secured bond, police said.
