Rodney T. Marvel Jr. was named Sussex County government’s Employee of the Year last week.
Marvel, the assistant director of the county’s environmental services division, began working for county government in 1993, when he was hired as an electrician at the South Coastal Regional Wastewater Facility.
Marvel received the employee of the year award during the annual Mildred King Luncheon on Friday.
During the luncheon, County Administrator Todd Lawson commended Marvel for his good-natured personality, strong work ethic, professionalism and willingness to help his fellow county employees.
Marvel credited his co-workers for the honor.
“We have a lot of good people who work in Environmental Services; It is really because of them that I’m here today,” he said. “I can’t thank them enough, and all the county’s employees for giving me this honor.”
Marvel was selected from among a field of four county employees who previously won Employee of the Quarter honors.
