  • A Georgetown woman is facing multiple criminal charges stemming from a November crash that took the life of her 2-year-old nephew.
Danielle M. Bobak, 46, has been charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to use a child restraint for a person under 8 years old and driving at an unreasonable speed, according to state police.
She was being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $20,502 secured bond as of Tuesday.
Bobak is charged in connection with a single-car crash near Delmar that killed 2-year-old Lleyton Slate of Delmar on Nov. 13.
Police said Bobak was driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy east on Whitesville Road about 2:40 p.m. when she lost control in a moderate curve, causing the car to leave the roadway.
Bobak reportedly overcorrected while attempting to bring the car back onto the roadway, causing the Subaru to spin counter-clockwise. The car exited the north side of the road, where the front end struck a tree, causing the vehicle to roll onto its passenger side.
Slate, who was seated in the center of the backseat, was ejected after the car rolled onto its side.
The boy was initially taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. before being flown to Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, where he was pronounced dead.
Bobak was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where she was currently listed in serious condition.
