  • Sussex County government will sell off 15 surplus vehicles and parts from eight generators during a public auction in Georgetown on Saturday.
    The list of vehicles up for sale includes cars, pick-up trucks and SUVs with model years between 1995 and 2003. The vehicles include Fords, Chevrolets, Jeeps and a Dodge with mileages that range between 90,000 and 240,000 miles. A 1974 Chevrolet dump truck with 19,000 miles also is among the vehicles being sold.
    County officials said the vehicles and generators are no longer suitable for the county’s operational needs.
    The auction will be held at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center parking lot at 21911 Rudder Lane in Georgetown starting at noon. Potential buyers can begin inspecting the vehicles and generators at 10 a.m.
    Items will be sold to the highest bidder in “as is” condition, with no guarantee or warranty. Only cash or certified checks, due in full on Saturday, will be accepted.
    All proceeds from the auction will be deposited in the county’s general fund.
