  • A 42-year-old Milton man is accused of beating another man with a baseball bat last week.
John Distefano was arrested at a home in the 200 block of Grist Mill Drive about 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 24, according to Milton Police Department spokesman Capt. John Cornwell.
Distefano and another 42-year-old Milton man were involved in a disagreement when Distefano struck the victim in the back of the head with an aluminum bat and then punched the man in the face.
Cornwell said the victim, who was able to flee on foot, was later taken to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Destefano is charged with assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and disorderly conduct.
He is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of a $16,100 secured bond, police said.
