U.S. Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) will be making two stops in the county seat on Friday.
Delaware’s senior senator is slated to hold an informational session with students at Sussex Central High School near Georgetown to remind them that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid enrollment is now open.
Students planning to attend college between July 1 and June 30, 2014, have until June 30 of next year to submit their applications for federal student aid, while the state deadline is April 15.
The event at Sussex Central also will feature a presentation for college-bound seniors on financial aid by a representative from the Delaware Department of Education’s Office of Higher Education.
Afterward, Carper will visit Harrison House of Georgetown, a family-owned and operated senior assisted-living facility on West North Street.
The senator’s visit will highlight the 28-year-old facilities recent conversion of its medical records to an electronic format.
Last summer, the facility also completed a $2.5 million expansion that added roughly 9,000 square feet, including 30 new beds, 12 new patient suites, an activity and dining room, an outdoor patio, a speech therapy room and a large physical rehabilitation center.
