A former Laurel-area woman is accused of carrying on a 10-month sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy.
Katheryn L. Carmean, 35, was arrested at her job in Seaford on Wednesday and charged with 10 counts of third-degree rape, continuous sexual abuse of a child and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier.
Police learned of the alleged abuse on Wednesday after the boy told family members about his relationship with Carmean, recently moved to Berlin, Md..
Fournier said the abuse occurred at Carmean’s former home in the unit block of Mt. Zion Road, north of Laurel, from November 2011 and until August 2012.
Carmean is being held at the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle on a $57,000 secured bail.
