  • Beebe Medical Center’s Tunnell Cancer Center in Lewes recently earned certification for meeting the highest quality standards for cancer care.
The three-year certification was made by the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI).
“We are extremely proud to have received this quality recognition, said Cherrie Rich, the executive director of oncology services at Beebe Medical Center. “It reflects the commitment to quality and patient safety of our entire team, including the oncologists, pharmacists, nurses, navigators, therapists and support staff at Tunnell Cancer Center.”
QOPI is a voluntary, self-assessment and improvement program launched in 2006 to help more than 700 hematology-oncology and medical oncology practices assess the quality of care they provide through reviews of patient records.
To become certified, practices must submit to an evaluation of their entire practice and documentation standards to show they are meeting core standards.
