Georgetown Arts and Flowers, Inc. recently held an artist reception for 40 Georgetown elementary and middle school students whose works were exhibited at the Georgetown Public Library. The works will be on display through the end of the month.
Winners from the event are as follows, beginning with first place: Claire Denney from Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences; second place: Sarah Ashmore from Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences; third place: Kathryn VanPelt from Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences.
Honorable mentions include Sarah Buoni from Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences;Samara Clark from Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences; Trystan Rioux from Georgetown Elementary; Bryn Elliott from Jefferson School; Kaylee Velasquez from Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences; and Tina Witke from Georgetown Elementary.
Participating elementary schools and its art teachers include: Georgetown Elementary School with art teacher Crystal Ward; Georgetown Middle School with art teacher Jean Watson; The Jefferson School with art teacher Karen Letenoff; Sussex Academy of Arts and Sciences with art teacher Stephanie Hartsoe.
Award ribbons were donated by Chardon Jewelers. Juice and cookies for the reception were donated by Wal-Mart Georgetown.
Gerrilyn Haskil and Bev Bellows, both Georgetown professional artists judged the art show, offered their comments to each student and donated their time.
