Following an investigation conducted by the Delaware Attorney General's office, a Bethany Beach police officer has been arrested for assault.
According to the AG's office, the investigation was initiated after a March 3 incident involving the officer, 45-year-old Richard Haden, and a suspect in custody at department headquarters. The AG's office determined Haden allegedly assaulted the suspect.
Haden was charged with one count of third degree assault. He turned himself in to Capital Police in Georgetown on April 22. After being arraigned, Haden was released on $500 unsecured bond. A case review is scheduled for May 20.
