The Delaware State Police is investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred in Laurel on April 25.
According to police, a 17-year-old girl reported that, between midnight and 2:30 a.m., she was struck by a vehicle while walking on Route 9, about one and a half miles east of Route 13. Police said the operator of the vehicle then returned to the scene and forcibly placed the girl into his vehicle before driving her to an undisclosed location in Laurel where she was physically and sexually assaulted. Police said the girl was then driven back to the area of her Laurel home, where she was freed. She was later treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a black male, average in statue, clean shaven, and wearing eye glasses. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a silver, four-door passenger vehicle bearing a white license plate out of an unknown state.
