  • The Georgetown Police Department hosted a National Take Back Initiative for prescription medicines on April 27.
Interested people responded to the police department and turned in their unwanted or expired prescription medication. The police collected 67 pounds of prescription medications over a four-hour period.
The Georgetown Police Department is planning future drug take backs and the public will be notified of when these will take place.
This initiative was in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration. The medications were turned over to the DEA for destruction.
