The Delaware State Police and the Fire and Ambulance Callboard of Sussex County will host their 12th annual 911 Open House on May 9 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center at 21911 Rudder Lane in Georgetown.
About 500 children from local school districts are expected to visit the 911 center. They will be given a tour of the center and students will learn important safety tips on how and when to contact 911.
Among the events participants and attractions are the University of Delaware’s Bicycle Safety Program, the American Lung Association’s “Kick Butts” Anti-Smoking Campaign, the Millsboro Fire Company’s Fire Safety House, and McGruff the Crime Dog. Various units from the DSP, local fire departments, and emergency medical services will also be on display.
