  • The Georgetown Medical Center will see a new addition early next month, as Nanticoke Health Services has announced its intention to open a walk-in clinic.
Nanticoke Immediate Care will be located at 505 W. Market St. The clinic will be open seven days a week, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on weekends. The facility hopes to open its doors on July 8.
“There is a great need for health care providers in Sussex County,” said Steven Rose, president/CEO of Nanticoke Health Services. “This new walk-in clinic will not only bring additional health care providers to Georgetown, but will also provide access to care without an appointment and will be open to the community evenings and weekends, making it easier for the people that work or have other commitments during the day to access the care they need.”
Appointments will not be needed at the facility.
The clinic will provide care for minor illness and injury. According to Tom Brown, senior vice president at Nanticoke and president of the Nanticoke Physician Network, the most common ailments that will be treated at the clinic include sprains, colds, the flu and more.
“These are things a person shouldn’t go to the emergency room for,” Brown said. “Go to the emergency room for chest pain, severe cut, and breaks. We will treat the most common, everyday things that you typically go to a physician for, but they’re not open, they’re very busy, or it’s after hours.”
The clinic will also be equipped with an X-ray machine, Brown added.
All types of insurance will be accepted. The cost for the uninsured will be based on the nature of their visit, Brown said.
Because Nanticoke Immediate Care is part of the Nanticoke Physician Network, medical records will be accessible for any existing Nanticoke patients who utilize the clinic.
“Patients will have access to the patient portal system allowing them to access information about their visit,” Brown said. “And, for patients whose primary care physician is a member of the Nanticoke Physician Network, their doctor can easily see information on the care provided and any test results completed during their visit to Nanticoke Immediate Care. This allows for a continuum of care for patients.”
