The Delmarva Christian Royals baseball squad won their fourth game of the season while avenging an early season loss to St. Thomas More on Saturday with a 12-8 victory.
The Royals offense scored early and often on Saturday, knocking in 12 runs on 15 hits against the Ravens.
Delmarva Christian struck immediately with 5 runs in the 1st inning off St. Thomas More’s Brian Spangler. After a scoreless bottom half of the inning due to strong pitching from Hunter Parsons, the Royals went back to work with the bats in the top half of the second scoring 2 more runs on Spangler.
After another 2-run top half of the 3rd, Spangler was chased from the game with the Royals up 9-0 heading into the 4th. Delmarva Christian would add another run in the 4th to explode for 10 runs in the first 4 innings of play.
Leading the charge were Robert Mitchell, Luke Czapp and Parsons who all doubled home runs in the victory.
Parsons pitched 3 scoreless innings before running into trouble in the later innings. St. Thomas more would strike for 8 runs in the final 4 innings, though most of their offense was due to Royal errors as the Ravens scored 8 runs on just 5 hits in the game.
Even with the late offensive surge from the Ravens, Parsons was still able to go the distance for the complete-game.
Next up for the Royals is a double-header on the road against Maryland school Holly Grove Christian.
