A 33-year-old Laurel woman was arrested May 13 after she allegedly provided a false name to police who were investigating a reported assault.
According to the Georgetown Police Department, officers were summoned to the Dunbarton Oaks apartment complex around 10:30 p.m. for an alleged assault that involved Tara Garrison. Police said while officers were obtaining information, Garrison allegedly provided them with a false name. After discovering her true identity, police said it was revealed that Garrison was also wanted out of the Sussex County Superior Family Court for failing to appear at a child support hearing. Police said while officers were preparing an arrest warrant for Garrison, she allegedly urinated on the processing bench and floor of the processing room.
Police said Garrison was charged with criminal impersonation and criminal mischief. No charges were filed for assault as the victim desired no prosecution. Police said Garrison was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a secured bond with a future court date.
