  • While researchers have found that cinnamon may help lower blood sugar in folks with diabetes, it’s not likely you’ll be chasing your next meal with a teaspoon or two—the amount found to have an effect. No, cinnamon is best mingled with milk and sugar in custards or tossed with apples and oats in a pie. Here we’ve paired it with healthy oats, honey and dried fruit for Chewy Granola Bars and swirled it with brown rice and milk for a sweet custardy rice pudding that works just as well for breakfast as it does for dessert. A spoonful of cinnamon may just be the medicine in these yummy recipes. FACTOID What we know as cinnamon (and find on the spice shelves) is actually cassia.
