Rep. Ruth Briggs King (R-Georgetown) announced she has received confirmation from the Delaware Department of Transportation that an agreement has been reached to repair a list of railroad crossings throughout the state, including four in Georgetown.
DelDOT and Norfolk Southern Railway Corporation signed a Memorandum of Agreement last month to repair a total of 34 railroad crossings by Dec. 1, 2013.
The Georgetown repairs will occur at Sussex Pines Road, Donovans Road, Wilson Road, and Cooper Alley. Sussex Pines Road between Cedar Lane and Woods Branch Road will be closed for repairs at 7 a.m. on May 20 and will reopen by 5 p.m. on May 24.
Repairs are also being made to crossings in Millsboro. Also closed from May 20-24 are Thompsonville Road between Delaware Avenue and Route 24, and Patriots Way between Bethesda Road and Avenue of Honor.
DelDOT will post signs to alert motorists of the closure and the accompanying detour routes.
