The School Choice application period will soon close for parents who wish to enroll their children in the Spanish Emersion programs at John M. Clayton and East Millsboro elementary schools in 2013-14. Only kindergarten students will be accepted into the program next year.
The Spanish immersion program gives young learners the opportunity to acquire a second language in a developmentally-appropriate format. Kindergarten students will spend half of each school day learning in English and the other half of the day learning in Spanish.
Students selected for the program will be eligible to continue in the immersion program through the fifth grade at both schools. They will then have the opportunity to continue Spanish instruction at the middle and high school levels.
Parents who are interested in having their child considered for the program must complete and submit an Indian River School District School Choice application.
