  • The Sussex County Garden Helpline has already started taking calls from residents who have questions about the gardening season, and are on hand to take many more.
Residents are also welcome to take plant samples to the Sussex County Extension Office at the Elbert N. and Ann V. Carvel Research and Education Center at 16483 County Seat Highway in Georgetown. The samples can be observed to diagnose disease or the cause of an injury.
Master Gardeners, members of the community who have received extensive training in order to extend the home garden outreach of Delaware Cooperative Extension, volunteer to handle phone calls and receive plant samples daily from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Messages can be left on the answering machine during other hours. Sometimes an answer is immediately available, and sometimes the Master Gardeners must do a little research before returning calls.
To reach the Master Gardeners, call (302) 856-2585, ext. 535.
Information is also available online at http://extension.udel.edu/lawngarden. Fact sheets or publications are available that can be downloaded at no charge.
