The third annual Ellendale Family Fun Day Festival is set for June 8.
Mayor Kim Hughes said the Town of Ellendale is hoping to have this become a popular outing, much like Bridgeville's Apple Scrapple, or Milford's Riverwalk and Bug and Bud Festival.
"The festival was born of a desire by myself and Vice President Norman 'Jay' Jones wanting to get Ellendale recognized and to do something community oriented for our residents," Hughes said. "The event has had a rocky three years, with not enough committee members and the ones that do volunteer are spread thin. Lack of advertising was also a factor, but it's a learning experience and we are growing every year."
The festival will have entertainment including a DJ all day, local talent performances, games, a moon bounce, face painting, food, sales, and craft vendors, as well as informational booths and health screenings.
Also this year Ellendale will host a Lil' Miss Ellendale Pageant during the festival, scheduled for 1 p.m. Any girls ages 3-12 with an Ellendale address can register.
Volunteers are still needed. Interested volunteers or those seeking more info can call Hughes at (302) 519-1113 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
