A 31-year-old Lewes man was arrested June 20 in connection to the June 8 robbery of the DOT Discount Cigarette store on John J. Williams Highway in Lewes.
According to the Delaware State Police, surveillance photos from the store that were released to the media supplied Delaware Crime Stoppers with numerous telephone tips and James C. Rogers was developed as a prime suspect.
Police said a search warrant for Rogers’ Yoshino Drive residence was obtained on June 20. Upon conducting the search, police said they were able to locate numerous items allegedly linked to the robbery including a baseball cap, white framed sunglasses and a knife. Police said they also located several hypodermic needles.
Police said Rogers was found hiding in a bathroom and he was taken into custody without incident. Rogers is charged with first degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rogers was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $107,500 cash only bond.
