  • Woman suffers gunshot wound to the head in Lewes home invasion

  • The Delaware State Police is investigating a home invasion the occurred at about 6:30 a.m. June 25 on Fox Glove Run in the Love Creek Mobile Home Park in Lewes.
    According to police, two male suspects, one armed with a handgun, forced their way into the residence and entered a bedroom where a 38-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter were sleeping. After the two were alerted to the intruders, one of the suspects fired a single round at the woman, striking her in the head. Police said the suspects then fled the residence in an unknown direction without taking any items or cash. Police said the 12-year-old was then able to call 911, and the 38-year-old was transported to a local hospital where she is being treated for the gunshot wound.
    Police said this was not a random act, and the victims may have been targeted in the home invasion.
