A 55-year-old Lewes man was arrested on June 28 for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.
According to the Delaware State Police, an investigation ensued after the girl disclosed to the Division of Family Services on June 27 that she had been involved in a sexual relationship with Frederick H. Massey Jr.
Police said the two met in October 2012 while the victim was working at a local kennel south of Milton. As the months passed, police said the two communicated through text messages and then in February 2013, Massey allegedly kissed her on the lips. Police said the relationship continued and in March, Massey allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with the girl while parked in a wooded area near Redden Forest.
Massey was charged with two counts of second degree rape and three counts of unlawful sexual contact. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $129,000 cash bail.
